Types of Documentary

Poetic Documentary
Created in 1920's, used to tell the audience by showing the documentary in a different way. Not in order like other documentaries.

Expository Documentary
Speak directly to the viewer, mostly in the form of commentary and using voice overs and titles. Its a strong argument and point of view. Rhetorical and try and persaude the audienc. (Male voice over used)

Observational Documentary
1960's lightweight camera technologies came in. Observation of life. Fly on the wall effect.

Participatory Documentary
Begins in a expository condition and the film maker gets involved and participates.

Reflective Documentary
Abstract concept, questions reality, post modern concept.
Performative Documentary
Reflecting on your life and making a documentary on whats happend to you.
